Patriotic Snow Cones and other funny 4th Of July Memories

Okay, while the 4th is still fresh in our minds, I’ve begun to remember funny and exciting things that have happened on past 4th of Julys, so I will begin with one of my funniest and favorite memories.

  • This happened last year, on the 4th of July at the annual 4th of July parade here on Bainbridge Island. A man wearing an Uncle Sam hat and a red white and blue outfit walked by selling patriotic snow cones. The snow cones had red white and blue syrup on them, and looked pretty tasty. As the person at the head of the line was buying their snow cone, the man selling them was saying “Patriotic snow cones! They look just like the American flag!” The person buying one smiled politely and took a bite. Gagging, they replied, “Are these supposed to taste like the American flag as well?”

  • This happened at the one year at one of my friends 4th of July BBQ, after the parade. The guests were all in her back yard, when her cat raced throught the crowd. One of the guests, who did NOT like animals, (Who knows? Maybe she’s changed. Probably not), lost her head completely and shouted “LOOK OUT! IT’S A MONSTER”. Ouch.

  • This year at the parade, we were sitting by some obnoxious kids who had brought a bucket of water and water blasters, and they were squirting people and floats as they passed by. When the police officers passed by on their horses, one of them shot some water at the nearest officer, and hit his horse. Naturally, the horse freaked out. The fact that the nearby marching band was wailing loudly on their instruments really wasn’t helping the poor horses……..
